The Réseau Môm'artre provides welcoming spaces for children aged 4 to 11. “We pick up the children after school and take care of them until 7:30 PM,” explains Mona Hitti. “We also offer homework help. Artists come to lead projects with the children over several sessions, culminating in a vernissage.”
Artistic projects are also conducted outside the walls, in daycare centers and schools up to middle school. Artistic practice fosters the development of soft skills, which today’s children will need tomorrow.
The Réseau Môm'artre is also a training organization aimed at enhancing the skills of education and animation professionals.
“We prove every day that we can live together,” insists Mona Hitti. “We have both the hipsters from the neighborhood who have enrolled their children because they recognize the artistic quality, as well as families referred by social workers and educational success programs. And all these people come together, parents and children who would never have met otherwise. It’s also about social connection. We create spaces that don’t exist in this form, with this social diversity and this artistic requirement.”
