Founded in 2017, Sic4Change is an organization present in Spain, Guatemala, Peru, and Mauritania that works in three main areas: job insertion for vulnerable youth, maternal and child health, and human mobility. In all cases, the method is the same: first listen, co-create the solution with the community itself, validate it, and if it works, replicate it in other territories.
Their programs adapt to the territory, as has been the case with Nut4Health, active in Mauritania and Guatemala, which combines a network of community agents with a mobile application to detect cases of child malnutrition and refer them directly to health centers. The result is an 89% reduction in cases of acute malnutrition. The local residents who participate in the detection also receive an income through blockchain technology.
Replicating models across such different territories requires, according to García, focusing on the essentials without imposing solutions. That’s why Sic4Change teams are composed of people from the territory itself. Working with actors whose interests do not always align is part of the process, not an obstacle. "The more people we are able to listen to, with different viewpoints, the more solutions are generated," García argues.
