During the lockdown in 2020, when millions of people were isolated, a group of young people in Barcelona had a simple yet transformative idea: to recover unused tablets and phones so that seniors could communicate with their families. This is how Bleta was born, a company that fights to reduce the digital divide and make technology more human, accessible, and inclusive.
“We want technology to serve people, not the other way around”, explains Gerard Pinar, its co-founder and COO. Over time, this solidarity initiative evolved into a project with a mission for impact. Today, Bleta offers a tablet specifically designed for seniors: large icons, intuitive menus, visible text, and accessories that facilitate its use, such as ergonomic cases or stylus pens.
Additionally, the company has developed a free app that turns any Android phone into an accessible tool, allowing over 200,000 users to date to make video calls, access information, or communicate with their families without frustration.
