Six million young people in France are affected by social determinism. One of the main causes of this mechanism is the lack of information and networks.
“We don’t always have people around us who can talk about professions or inform us about different sectors,” explains Jérémy Cazalas. “The result is that young people know on average 7 professions, which reflect their surroundings, and this doesn’t necessarily help them break the glass ceiling and dream bigger.”
Deviens Génial ! has therefore set itself the mission of helping young people learn about more professions by sharing the testimonies of those who have found their paths, their triggers, and who recount how they succeeded and the tactics they activated.
Specifically, it’s a media platform with one-minute videos to quickly present a profession. Then, there’s a longer format, a podcast, where we meet professionals who talk about their journey, but also about the behind-the-scenes of their jobs, everything that isn’t visible.
The next step is to involve the young people themselves in the creative process. “We want to become the first French mutualist media produced by young people for young people.” In this regard, Deviens Génial ! is setting up content creation workshops that will be deployed in high schools. “It’s the high school students themselves who will create videos about professions, which will then be broadcast on the media,” explains Jérémy Cazalas.
“We want to create phygital experiences, meaning a link between the physical and the digital, because we want human connection, to recreate links in the territories between businesses, associations, educational teams, and students.”
Companies participate by opening their doors, sharing what happens there on a daily basis, so that professions become more concrete for young people and can spark vocations, or conversely, dispel desires that may not have been genuine. “Sometimes we fantasize about a profession, and then when we discover its daily reality, we realize that it’s not really what we wanted to do,” specifies Jérémy Cazalas.
Deviens Génial ! also collaborates with associations that are on the ground to connect with these young people.
“I believe we are in a world where we have fewer and fewer reference points, where we ask ourselves many questions about the future. What we particularly want is to create a trigger or at least instill this logic of getting moving, participating in a Deviens Génial ! workshop, meeting a professional from their neighborhood or department. It’s really about encouraging people to take action and realize that it’s by exploring and doing things that their future will take shape,” concludes Jérémy Cazalas.
