While "reduce, reuse, and recycle" has been the mantra of the circular economy, European institutions and companies are now focusing on repair, which could be key in some sectors to save hundreds of thousands of euros and prevent the emission of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Plastic Repair System began its journey by offering machinery to fix plastic items, but a few years ago it changed its business model to vertically integrate repair operations. As a result, they are experiencing exponential growth, with three plants in Spain, two in Mexico, and one in Poland, from where they provide solutions to logistics companies, bottlers, can manufacturers, automotive, and food industries, among other industrial sectors.
“Between 10 to 15% of returnable items in logistics and supply chains are damaged annually,” explains Neila, who believes that his company provides unique economic and environmental value throughout the supply chain that uses these plastic items, a material with a finite recycling capacity, unlike other components such as aluminum or steel.
