“Autism is a disability, not an illness” emphasizes the president of the association Amouti Autisme. Fifteen years ago, Anne-Gabrielle Roche and her partner discovered that their son, Foulque, is autistic.
Left to their own devices, they had to learn to understand this disability over a long period. In 2018, the couple decided to help children and parents facing this situation. They created Amouti Autisme, which allows, among other things, all concerned individuals to access a childcare center, a sensory room, an adapted basketball section, as well as financial and material support for children in ULIS classes… “We have speech therapists, psychomotor therapists, and occupational therapists who are trained in specific techniques that allow us to adapt and personalize learning.” explains the founder of the association.
Anne-Gabrielle and Sylvain are supported by volunteer parents of “ordinary or extraordinary” children. Together, they work to help integrate them into our society with more ease and serenity: “For example, when it rains, it can be a very distressing situation because they feel like they disappear with the rain.” Personalized support that is truly decisive for managing the anxiety of autistic children.
And each year, Amouti welcomes 10 new children for 18 months.
