“It was through traveling that I became aware of the incredible social injustice faced by these populations deprived of electricity,” he explains. “This situation drove me to take action to provide sustainable and essential solutions.”
The lack of electricity has major repercussions on education, as children have to study by candlelight or with expensive and polluting kerosene lamps in the evening; on domestic life, where women cook under precarious conditions; and on digital inclusion, as without electricity, it is impossible to charge a smartphone, an essential tool for accessing payment services, education, healthcare, and information.
To address these challenges, Moon offers an accessible and easy-to-install solar kit. This device, contained in a box the size of a large shoebox, includes:
- A case with a rechargeable battery,
- Two USB ports,
- Three LED lamps,
- A solar panel, installed on the roof in less than an hour by local teams trained by Moon.
With a cost of less than 2 euros per month for users, this solution offers an affordable and sustainable alternative.
Since its beginnings in Senegal, Moon has expanded its operations to Togo, where it has been active for three years. To date, 20,000 people have benefited from this innovation, and 30,000 new connections are planned for 2025.
With its expertise, Moon is now exploring the potential of self-consumption solar energy for individuals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, thus opening a new chapter in its commitment to energy transition.
