Founded in 2007, the association initially developed around circus arts and cultural mediation, before setting up its tent in La Vallée-au-Blé in Aisne in 2022. The project then transformed into a third place and gradually brought together the locals. "It's the richness of co-constructing with the territory and the inhabitants", explains Renaud Gras.
On-site, activities have diversified. There is a social living space, a woodworking workshop, environmental initiatives, and even an eco-counseling program for children. The circus serves as an entry point to address ecological issues. "The circus will have a much more playful, festive approach, and will be our gateway to tackle many other themes", he emphasizes.
This approach produces very concrete effects. During a school festival organized with the eco-counseling program, the children established an eco-responsible charter. No small plastic giveaways, a free water point, and eco-cups purchased collectively. The association also collaborates with local authorities on planting projects and develops initiatives around transition-related professions.
The third place has also become a space where residents can genuinely participate in projects. "It's a strength to be able to truly involve volunteers. They are not just consulted, but are active participants. They hold the keys", insists Renaud Gras. This dynamic could further expand with the renovation of an old industrial building, intended to host training sessions and young interns.
