Founded 30 years ago, the association Droits d’urgence is dedicated to reaching the most vulnerable populations: the homeless, displaced persons, elderly individuals losing autonomy, those unemployed, victims of domestic violence, people with mental health issues, youth, prisoners, sex workers...
The idea is to be somewhat of a general practitioner of law, with a holistic approach, in partnership with other associations, as well as social workers, doctors, psychologists, police stations... The goal is to guide individuals towards appropriate structures, enabling them to escape precarious situations.
The Solidarity Bus of Droits d’urgence travels around the Paris suburbs - “It is often easier to get on the bus than to push open the door of an institution,” explains Caroline Joly, - while police stations and social workers can also direct individuals to their offices.
Finally, the association offers training for professionals, focusing on two key themes: immigration law and combating domestic violence. This work is now also being implemented in private companies to detect and direct individuals wherever necessary.
