Founded after the Covid-19 crisis, the association 1CabasPour1Étudiant addresses increasingly pressing issues for young people and their families, such as inflation, distance from family homes, and the need to balance studies with work. "We connect a sponsor with a student in difficulty within the same city. The role of the sponsors is to regularly provide shopping bags and, most importantly, to create a human connection, a strong social bond with the young people," explains Marion Dolisy Galzy.
This insecurity also impacts academic success. "Many young people work more than 12 hours a week, and beyond that, the risk of failure increases by 40%. This is a real issue of equal opportunities." she emphasizes.
Sponsorships are organized based solely on geographical proximity. Shopping, meals, outings, or simple exchanges help students break their isolation. "We are the only ones in France offering this local solidarity sponsorship that provides both physical nourishment and emotional support."
In five years, over 7,000 students have been supported in around fifty municipalities. "We are looking for new sponsors in all university cities across France to support the students who are currently signing up in large numbers for our association," encourages Marion Dolisy Galzy.
