The idea behind Glot originated from a personal experience. A few years ago, during several international conferences, Majid Haddouchi noticed part of the audience losing interest. "It wasn't because the conference wasn't interesting. It was simply because the language wasn't right, and I myself didn't understand everything," he recounts.
This frustration sparked a reflection: "We gather people in the same place, but not everyone understands the same thing. We are all equal, but not when it comes to understanding". This observation led to the creation of Glot, with the ambition to eliminate language barriers.
Participants scan a QR code displayed by the organizer, choose their language, and gain direct access to real-time translation. Today, Glot offers more than fifty languages, including less common ones like Lingala and Wolof.
As Glot developed, Majid Haddouchi expanded its mission. "We realized that there are also the hearing impaired, people with cognitive disorders, or other profiles that need better accessibility".
The platform now offers customizable subtitling during events and allows participants to retrieve a summary after the conference. The company is also working on a French sign language avatar to further enhance inclusion.
At the heart of this innovation is artificial intelligence. "Without AI, Glot wouldn't exist," he explains. The technology notably improves translation accuracy through customizable industry glossaries and achieves a latency of one to five seconds, which is essential for live use.
"Accessibility and inclusion are really, I think, what will allow us all to better understand each other, to break down barriers and dismantle codes," concludes Majid Haddouchi.
