Mónica Rodríguez has always dreamed of working in fashion. She first created her own clothing brand and shortly after began working for the Inditex group, experiences that made her understand the problems faced by such a polluting industry. Her work convinced her that there was a need to address the excess fabrics wasted by the sector, an idea that took shape in Recovo.
Recovo allows brands to sell their surplus fabrics by facilitating connections with other brands or designers interested in reusing them. Additionally, it helps companies manage their inventories more intuitively, generating upcycling strategies and creative uses for the fabrics they already have in stock, reducing waste and optimizing materials.
“We propose to transform the linear model, where natural resources are extracted, manufactured, and waste is generated, into a circular model, where natural resources are maximized and materials are used to their fullest potential,” explains Rodríguez, who presented her company last April at the Change Now summit on environmental and social challenges in Paris.
