Citizens are capable of great things when they see proof of it.
Based on this observation, Kaméra Vesic and her group of friends decided to create Pik Pik Environnement. An association that has been growing since 2009, with the goal of improving the state of our planet through citizens: “there is no environmentalism without social responsibility,” asserts the co-founder.
Through very concrete actions: “occasional activities to explore topics, conferences, a walk, a workshop (...) longer-term support, we hope for a change in individual behavior (...) and the pinnacle is when we manage to undertake large collective projects.” she continues.
Founded on the principles of awareness and action, the association regularly organizes beach clean-up campaigns, park clean-ups, and other natural space clean-ups to combat plastic pollution and littering. These concrete and useful actions help improve polluted wildlife and flora while raising public awareness of the harmful impacts of pollution.
Pik Pik Environnement also works with businesses, because “when you are in a company, you remain a citizen”. The association advocates for reducing digital usage and the pollution it causes “phones, computers, screens in hallways, in lobbies…”, as well as for managing transportation methods used to commute to work: “there are inter-company transport plans, which are super interesting!”
The team, composed of around twenty people, also collaborates with local authorities, businesses, and various organizations to promote more effective environmental policies.
Kaméra emphasizes: collective action is the solution. The more we strengthen civic engagement for the preservation of our planet for future generations, the greater the impact will be!
