For Sergi Comas, the aging population compels all of us to contribute to facilitating care for individuals who may not be able to obtain adequate healthcare. This is where Luracare was born, which in recent years has also expanded to northern Italy and the UK, collaborating with nursing homes to provide services for vision, hearing, and oral health.
“Oral health needs to be addressed preventively. You end up treating the person when there is already a pathology that could have been avoided. That’s why we sign agreements with nursing homes to conduct check-ups for all residents and prevent possible pathologies,” explains Comas.
The name of the company is a tribute to the French nun Lucile Random, who spent more than 40 years in a nursing home. “As it is understood, she went there at the age of 74 to spend her last years. She eventually passed away at 118. For us, she represents the idea that you don’t go to a nursing home to die, you go to live,” adds the CEO.
