This solution allows for the cataloging of all services and places useful to people in precarious situations, such as food distributions, day shelters, legal aid, as well as French language courses and other essential services.
Through an app or the website, this guide offers the ability to geolocate and quickly discover services nearby, refining searches and needs by keyword. It is also available in paper form, and solidarity actors can easily access it to assist individuals directly over the phone.
Victoria Mandefield, the founder, emphasizes one point: often, those in need of these services are not just homeless individuals, contrary to popular belief, but more broadly people in precarious situations “There is a somewhat hidden precariousness, for example, that of single women in social housing, young LGBT individuals rejected by their parents, or asylum seekers.”
This Soliguide, a true social innovation, also saves time for all solidarity actors by allowing them to better catalog locations, hours, and addresses, “We have managed to save an average of 7.5 minutes for each solidarity actor,” a relatively precious time when considering the volume of calls these services receive.
