You have probably heard, at a red light before crossing, a robotic female voice saying aloud “red pedestrian, Avenue de la République.” Next to you, a person with a disability refers to it. This very useful tool for these individuals was developed by Okeenea in 1993.
This company had, and still has, the goal of making daily life easier for these individuals, using technology in public spaces as well as in buildings. This is to meet the needs of the 1.3 billion people with disabilities worldwide.
In 2009, Sylvain Denoncin and his partners took over the reins of this company, driven by the same motivation: to bring inclusivity where it is lacking: “For us, accessibility is a true commitment. We live it, we breathe it, we shape it to offer the best of itself. It is what drives us to move forward, to create bridges, to design an inclusive world without barriers.”
And all of this is achieved through the creation of smart tools, within companies, in the streets, using smartphones or connected objects.
Discover in this interview their innovative and impactful solutions through concrete examples.
