First in Andorra and later in Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, or Senegal, Kosmos Impact harnesses the power of the ball to provide children with a safe environment and combat school dropout and absenteeism.
“After many years working on social and educational projects, you realize that the important thing when working with children and adolescents is to have a hook; football is the most popular sport,” explains Marc Pastor Oliva, who praises the magical power of football to change things, as long as it is used from a pedagogical standpoint.
While in Western countries they seek to reinforce values at a key moment in life, the transition to adolescence, in developing countries, Kosmos Impact aims to provide a safe and fun refuge for children who often face very difficult situations in their daily lives. “We are in direct contact with teachers, school directors, and families to try to generate a very high impact using football as a tool,” Pastor Oliva points out.
