Its most significant creation is undoubtedly the Protection People application (PPA), which uses facial biometrics to create digital identities for undocumented individuals, enhancing the effectiveness of aid and health projects. “It is a tool that, through facial biometrics and artificial intelligence, allows for the creation of a digital identity for a person and subsequently, even after long periods of time, enables us to reliably and securely recognize them,” explains Roca.
The technology emerged as a response to the challenges faced by an Indian organization working with homeless children who often went missing and were difficult to track. With PPA technology, the organization can locate them and monitor the child's development without having to start from scratch each time they appear in another part of the country. In Africa and other countries, this technology also supports health projects related to medication, fighting against the trafficking of drugs in the black market, or allowing the creation of vaccination records for those minors who do not have a birth certificate.
