Gender identity is an additional cause of discrimination and precariousness for individuals. It is with this understanding, and the fact that no such place existed in the capital of the Gauls, that Marie Villard and Lola Rouit decided to create La Toile. “We approach our work from an intersectional perspective and we know that precarities are exacerbated due to gender identities.”
The shelter operates in a non-mixed environment for cisgender women, non-binary, and transgender individuals. The idea is to provide a "safe" and restful space where everyone can introduce themselves and discuss their issues if they wish, with unconditional and quality support.
“We bring together people who would not have met without our association,” Marie Villard enthusiastically shares. “This creates strong connections and rather wonderful exchanges. It is precisely the richness of these exchanges that makes the association unique. We weave connections, which is why we named the association La Toile.”
A cocoon, a reference point, which also provides concrete assistance, acting as a facilitator for integration.
