Alexane Heredia created the Du Pain et des Roses association for women distanced from employment, enabling them to reintegrate through a rewarding profession while providing a recruitment solution to a strained sector. Inspired by a poem by James Oppenheim “Bread & Roses”, this name symbolizes two things: bread for sustenance and survival, and roses as a symbol of creativity and beauty, for flourishing.
If the training is successful after 3 months, these women will then have the opportunity to become florists. A job that offers them a path to financial independence, allowing them to support themselves and their families. This financial autonomy boosts self-confidence and dignity, thus enabling them to rebuild their lives on solid foundations.
Often victims of violence, this training framework also allows them to find themselves in a reassuring and secure environment, as Alexane, the creator of the association, tells us.
Finding a job is a powerful vector for social integration. By joining this training, women from all backgrounds, professions, and types of studies, but living in shelters and accommodation centers, open up to another world, expand their relationships and social network, and thus escape isolation.
